Responsibilities and Duties
The Department of Environment and Society seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in geospatial analysis to teach four courses in that field including an undergraduate intro GIS course (on-line, fall semester), a graduate geospatial analysis course (on-line fall and spring semesters), and a dual-list undergrad and grad geospatial analysis course (face-to-face, spring semester). The postdoctoral fellow will advance research from their dissertation and have the opportunity to collaborate with Drs. Peter Howe, Christopher Lant, and/or Claudia Radel on ongoing human-environment geography research projects. The Postdoctoral Fellow will co-author research articles, assist with proposals and present research results at national/international meetings as appropriate. A budget for research-related expenses of up to $5000 will be available with this position. The position is 100%-time for one year from August 15, 2019 – August 15, 2020.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion by date of appointment of a Ph.D. in Geography or a field related to geospatial analysis.
- Facility with ArcGIS software
- Demonstrated verbal and written English communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience.
- Interest in building capacity to teach undergraduate and graduate students at the university level in face-to-face and on-line formats.
- Interest in and capacity to collaborate on research projects with substantial geospatial components.
- Facility in R spatial analysis packages.
