Bio

Lea (she/her) is a Master of Arts student in the Connected Human-and-Natural Systems (CHANS) Lab, supervised by Dr. Kai Chan. Her research explores the connections between environmental values (including relational values), human wellbeing, and transformative change for sustainability. For her Master’s thesis, she is investigating how value expression in digital spaces impacts users’ visions of a good life (including notions of wellbeing, success, happiness, and fulfillment). Lea completed her bachelor’s degree in English Literature at the University of British Columbia.

Lea is the Master’s Student Representative for the IRES Student Society and the Climate Wellbeing Lead at the UBC Climate Hub, a campus-wide student-led initiative that engages and empowers community stakeholders to support environmental justice and systemic climate action. She is also a research technician with CoSphere, a project of UBC that aims to integrate systems science into community dialogues and collective actions for transformative change. Supported by the BC Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC), she served as a youth delegate to the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) and continues to amplify the voices of young climate leaders through her volunteer work as a podcast producer for BCCIC’s Y Talk Climate Podcast.
