Bio

Jasmine Lambert (she/her) is an MA student at IRES supervised by Dr. Robert VanWynsberghe. Jasmine is working with Dr. VanWynsberghe to revitalize part of the UBC Farm and turn it into a Teaching Garden. Jasmine’s research interests surrounding nature connection come from an inherent love for nature, which was instilled within her since childhood, as she spent the first 7 years of her life living on Saturna Island. When Jasmine moved from Victoria, BC to Toronto, ON for her undergraduate degree, she realized the large discrepancy between her peers who spent lots of time in nature as children compared to those who grew up in urban settings.

Jasmine holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, with a double major in Environmental Studies and Peace, Conflict & Justice, a minor in Human Geography and a Certificate of Sustainability. During her undergraduate degree, Jasmine worked with Environmental Defence Canada and Access Alliance, where she learned about different approaches to addressing the climate crisis from contrasting NGO perspectives. After completing her degree, Jasmine worked at the Pine Project, an environmental charity dedicated to inspiring a love of nature, which sparked her research interests and inspired her to pursue further education at UBC.
