Bio

Ivan Janković is a PhD student in the Accelerating Community Energy Transitions cohort at IRES. He studies circular energy planning with a focus on waste heat recovery and district energy systems. Ivan’s background includes a BSc in Global Resource Systems with a focus on Community Planning, a Masters of Management in Co-operatives and Credit Unions, and 8 years of professional practice in the co-operative sector as a researcher, educator, organizer, and co-op developer. Outside of his PhD, Ivan is an active musician, DJ, and community organizer playing in multiple queer punk bands (Doom Loops, Beastie) and serving as the Executive Director of Venue Co-op YVR – a collective of artists and musicians united for a strong local music scene.
