Bio

Tim Rodgers is an Assistant Professor of Teaching for the Environmental Sciences program, jointly appointed at UBC’s Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) and Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (EOAS). He is committed to creating diverse, interdisciplinary, and transformative learning experiences that connect students with communities of learning at UBC, across Vancouver, and beyond.

Trained as an environmental scientist and engineer, Tim studies the interactions among freshwater systems, urban infrastructure, land use, climate change, and contaminant transport. His research has combined laboratory, field, and computational approaches, experience that informs his teaching of environmental data collection, analysis, and problem-solving. Tim’s educational leadership focuses on developing open-access learner-centred resources and exploring how students and instructors are responding to the growing accessibility of coding and data-science tools, including generative AI. He does not supervise graduate students.
