Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The School of Earth of Environmental Sciences (SEES) is currently recruiting an ambitious post-doctoral researcher in the field of urban geography to commence in 2021. The appointee will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-university team to better understand the geographical and socioeconomic implications of the sharing economy.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to undertake novel research on short-term rentals and how shifting consumptive preferences & practices, digital platform economics, and housing market dynamics have altered the urban landscape.

The position is open to applicants from any disciplinary background, though preference will be given to those with an interest in, and understanding of, urban geography, economics, urban and regional planning and/or other areas of social sciences. A strong background in quantitative analysis is required.
