Call for Applications – UBC Sustainability Scholars

December 7, 2016

The UBC Sustainability Initiative (USI) is pleased to offer UBC graduate students the opportunity to work in funded sustainability internship projects.

We are currently accepting applications for four UBC Sustainability Scholars internship projects that will commence in January 2017. Current graduate students at UBC Vancouver, from all academic disciplines, are eligible to apply.

Successful candidates will work under the mentorship of a partner organization, and are immersed in real world learning where they can apply their research skills and contribute to advancing organizational sustainability goals. Each Scholar receives $20 per hour to complete up to 250 hours of work.

For more information on the available projects and to apply, visit our Student Opportunities page.

Applications will be accepted until midnight Tuesday January 2, 2017.

Information Session – UBC Sustainability Scholars Summer Program

Looking for a professional development experience? Want to make a difference in the community? Join us at our upcoming information session and learn about the UBC Sustainability Scholars program.

The program provides UBC graduate students with paid internship opportunities to tackle real-world sustainability challenges. Students work 250 hours over the summer (from May 1 through August 11) and are paid $5000. Past Scholars have had the opportunity to work with the City of Vancouver, Metro Vancouver, BC Hydro, Fraser Health, UBC Farm, Provincial Health Services Authority, and the Vancouver Economic Commission (to name a few).

By attending this event, you’ll hear first-hand from former scholars and representatives from our partner organizations about what it’s like to participate in the program; and what it offers in terms of skills development, job prospects, and networking. We will also review the deadlines and application details, and answer questions that you may have about the program.
