Join fellow athletes for a workshop and social on how athletes can be key drivers of climate action. The United Nations’ Sports for Climate Action just recognized that sports can and should be a “unifying tool to federate and create solidarity among global citizens for climate action.” Come get free dinner, meet and mingle with other athletes who care about climate change, and listen to brief talks from athletic leaders and climate communication experts on the urgency of the climate crisis and effective strategies for climate action. Athletes of any level are welcome and this event is for sports lovers from across the region (not just UBC athletes)! This workshop is the culmination of a student-led project created in collaboration with faculty and community partners, including UBC Climate Hub, UBC Athletics and Recreation, the Centre for Sport and Sustainability, and UBC Wellbeing, through UBC SEEDS Sustainability Program.
