June 6-7, 2018: Thematic consultation on open data and Sustainable Development Goals / Consultation thématique sur les données ouvertes et les Objectifs de développement durable

Statistics Canada and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat are pleased to invite you to participate in a consultation being organized on June 6-7, 2018 in Ottawa. The consultation will centre on “open data” and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More specifically, the objective is to discuss data availability, data gaps and opportunities for partnership surrounding goals 14-Life below water, and 15-Life on land.
The objective of this consultation will be to:
·         Further engage governments, non-governmental organizations, academia and others with the objective of measuring SDGs and establishing national priorities;
·         Define statistical capacity and availability of data with regards to goals 14 and 15;
·         Gain a better understanding of the principal constraints/challenges, as well as possible remedies for open environmental data.
