The International Relations Department at San Francisco State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in China in a Globalizing World, starting fall 2018. We offer a highly diverse and internationally focused campus community with a policy of commitment to social justice and strong student interest in contemporary China’s international relations. The post requires proven expertise on China and the ability to teach effectively the IR Department’s core courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The successful candidate will also teach undergraduate and MA courses in his/her areas of research. Areas of thematic interest include but are not limited to: China’s foreign policy; international political economy; communication and public diplomacy; global institutions and governance. The successful candidate must possess broad familiarity with theory and approaches to IR and closely-related social sciences. S/he should have Mandarin language skills adequate for research and teaching. S/he must have a PhD by the time of appointment and a record of publications or strong, publishable manuscripts.
