Shooting Ghosts was co-authored with U.S. Marine, Thomas Brennan, and details the unpredictability of war and its aftermath. Brennan and O’Reilly became friends during this tumultuous time, and the photographer documented not only Brennan’s experience with the war itself, but also his post-war experiences. Shooting Ghosts, written in alternating first person, details not only the tribulations of what they both experienced during the war in Afghanistan, but also their road to recovery.
This event is in partnership with the Faculty of Arts, the Liu Institute for Global Issues and the Department of History, UBC.
