Master’s Tri-Council and Affiliated Master’s Competitions – Application Deadline: 5pm Thursday December 1, 2016

Details on the Master’s Tri-Council (SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR) and Affiliated Master’s competitions are found below, please read all details carefully.

**If you are going to apply for any of these competitions, please let the IRES Graduate office know (Stefanie Ickert and Kyla Hicks).**

For those applying, you will also need to check the transcript requirements for your application and confirm with Stefanie/Kyla that the IRES Graduate office has official transcripts on file for you (Please budget in time to order new/more transcripts, if we do not have what is needed).

Deadline: The deadline across Canada for applications is 5pm Pacific Standard Time on Thursday, 1 December 2016. After this time, the Research Portal will close, and there will be no opportunity to re-open the application. This is the deadline for all application materials, including reference letters. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that their references are submitted on time. Please note that when identifying UBC as your institution, the official name is “The University of British Columbia”.


The Fall 2016 Affiliated Fellowships Master’s-level competition runs in parallel to the Tri-Agency CGS M competition. The Affiliated Fellowships materials for Master’s-level funding have now been posted to the Graduate Awards website:

Deadline: The deadline by which Affiliated Fellowship applications for Master’s-level funding must be submitted to the IRES Graduate office by 5pm Pacific Standard Time on Thursday, 1 December 2016. (same as the deadline for Tri-Agency CGS M applications). Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

*It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that a complete application is submitted on or before the deadline, including all required transcripts and reference letters.
