The Public Health Association of BC (PHABC) is putting on the 7th Annual PHABC Summer School July 11 – 12, 2016. The topic ‘Promoting Health and Sustainability: The Case of Climate Change and Energy Use’ presents an exciting opportunity for intersectoral collaboration and local action. This event will bring together professionals, trainees and students from across disciplines and across the province by using videoconference technologies to link four host sites: UVic, UBC, UBCO and UNBC.
Please feel free to check out the summer school at http://phabc.org/event/2016-summer-school/.
To help get people thinking about some of the topics and case studies that will be addressed through this year’s focus on Promoting Health and Sustainability: The Case of Climate Change and Energy Use, we have put together a brief think-piece with relevant background information and resources.
Special Invitation for Graduate Student Volunteers!
This year, Summer School participants will be engaging in a community-based mapping workshop in relation to several case studies on climate change. We are requesting the assistance of graduate student volunteers at all four sites to assist with the application of Google Earth and Plan2Adapt. Volunteers would attend the conference complementary and be trained on google mapping about one week before the summer school with a review session occurring during the summer school. The skills needed would include being comfortable with a laptop and experience at facilitating problem-based learning exercises. Students interested in volunteering can email your availability and site location by June 27 to email@example.com.
